Monday, after work. Finished loading the blocks into zip lock bags. I was planning on
getting all my loose action figures packed up and stored away, so, I had plenty of bags to use. I think I'm ready to start. I'm reluctant to get going, though. Where I was going to work on this project is still up in the air. You see in the photo, above, the decision I finally came to: clean off the table and take advantage of the extra space it would allow me. You can also see that the coffee table, in the background, is the new host for the Naboo Royal Starship.
Ah, crap! | Opps! First step and I've already screwed up! The two long blocks are extending off the wrong side of the flat block. I am so glad that I decided against using glue. |
I am pulling all the pieces for each step
from the bags before I start assembly - insurance that I don't forget a piece (though it will surely happen at some
point). One piece has already been tough to find. That is a bit surprising, I would think that putting all the pieces
into bags at the beginning of the project would help me find them. I have been able to spot all but this one piece
quickly. Still, I'm thinking that this one piece is just the start. Many times in this project, I'm probably going to
go from bag to bag trying to find one elusive piece (hoping that it isn't missing from the kit). This little bastard
is just the start. The problem with it: I thought it was a black piece from the drawing of it in the manual - it was
really dark gray.

Here we go! | |

Step Three | |
Step Four | |
Okay, I won't continue with images of every step in the manual. There probably isn't enough free space on my web site for that many photos. Besides, I didn't get much farther before I called it quits for the night; my back is hurting already from leaning over the table. Sitting at the table only works during assembly. I'll be up, bending over and moving around the table most of the time, looking through the bags for pieces. Drugs - I might be on serious pain drugs before this is over. Do you think that will look good on a medical record: "Lower back pain due to Legos"?
